House Symington was built in the style of a classic Italian villa. Elements such as the golden ratio, symmetry and courtyards informed the design to create old world-inspired architecture. Designing with an awareness of the South African climate a covered verandah was incorporated in the classic design. Typical of the old classical-style, the house consists of large-scale spaces, with floor-to-ceiling heights of 5.5m. A 5m high fountain in the courtyard complements the large scale.
